New H-1B visa fee will not apply to existing holders, official says
New H-1B visa fee will not apply to existing holders, official says Breaking the story since morning. It is important to understand that the top tech companies have actually reacted to Donald Trump's decision to impose a 100,000 rupees fee. Now, the top tech companies have asked their workers not to leave.
They have been told not to leave. It certainly comes because there is certainly a lot of anxiety and uncertainty about it.
These regulations will take shape. Of course, this is an executive order given by US President Donald Trump. So these tech companies have said that H1B visa holders should return to the US and not try to leave the country.
Okay, on this you have my colleague Rishabh Battanga joining us on the telecast. Deshab, there is certainly a lot of uncertainty. There is a lot of anxiety when you have a new executive order
Trump administration. Of course there are concerns about it. It can also be challenged in court. But given that at this point there is a lot of anxiety, what is it?
Latest that you are revising this story?
Sectors you have likes and you have a lot of Indians working for tech giants across the US including Amazon to the likes of Meta to Microsoft. Oh and what we are picking up on is that they have.
Internally their employees have been told the fact that it is recommended for them to stay in the US for at least 2 weeks and for the foreseeable future or if they are currently outside the US to return within the next 24 to 26 hours. This is the recommendation that they have sent out to their employees. Uh and uh
This is because with the full proclamation being signed by President Trump today, there are still a lot of practical applications that are still being ironed out and the best advice that companies are giving at the moment is
for employees to either stay in the US or return as soon as possible to avoid potential denials. So that is what we are picking up on the story. Absolutely. Thank you so much for joining us and sharing those details with us.
Trump H1B Visa | Trump Slaps $100,000 Fee On H-1B Visas: Bengaluru Techies React
They are $100,000 per year. So the whole idea is not whether these big tech companies or other big companies will train foreign workers. They have to pay $100,000 to the government. Then they have to pay the employee.
Yesterday we got some new news from Donald Trump about tariffs, right? $100,000. That is equivalent to 80 to 90 lakh rupees if some Indian techies are going to travel to the US. This is a sheer cost right.
We cannot make sense of such tariffs because these are Indian skilled people who are traveling and it is not only the US but they are traveling to other parts of the world. So why can't this kind of monarchy work. If they are not getting a chance to go to the US
then they will go somewhere else. Our government also needs to seriously consider this right. So they need to take some steps basically on how to provide more employment in India so that our brain drain
doesn't happen. We have been seeing a lot of brain drain for the last two decades. All these top rank companies Facebook, Google and all that are recruiting our talent because of the money they are going there. So our government also needs to implement these changes.
Consider these principles that are coming from outsiders. It cannot change our mindset. Our government needs to change the mindset. That is the moment when Donald Trump has taken.
Above America. If you see all these nonsense things that he is doing right what is this whole process why is he doing it? If you see that he basically wanted to ban Indians from travelling.
Which is not going to happen because we bring revolution in USIT Park just forget about USIT NASA also we are the ones who become MS or become Google whatever you will see. So this whole policy is exactly as I can say directly and it will not ban us from travelling all over India
Because it is not Donald Trump who is inviting us. It is the fellow who is inviting us based on our talent and not on the request of Donald Trump or any politician. I have talent. I can fly anywhere in the world. Nobody can ban me from travelling.
Maybe Modi government needs to consider this because this ban will have a huge impact on the company part. If companies are sponsoring myvisa and even for my personal travel there is also the education part
So this is really a matter of great concern for all of us and I believe that Narendra Modi the Prime Minister of India needs to consider this very seriously if not then we need to develop our country to such an extent that we do not have to travel to America. Obviously this is not good for you
Know those people who have been getting jobs in America in the past. Oh but yes, it is good for the country. Good talent will come back. I think it is the same thing. I think it is not good for jobs. It means that when those people who want you to go out of India know
that they build their careers but it will definitely create a big pool in India. I mean you guys know we will be able to retain great talent. Uh that is one.
Good part of it. Certainly I think that for those who are on H1B right now in the US it will be a struggle to renew them etc. So let's see how it turns out.
